View Full Version : Survived My First Jerky

Sunday I made my first ever jerky - used the fan oven only just on method. Used a dry packet marinade from Morrisons and a chunk of fillet steak. In the end it was in the oven for about 5 and a 1/4 hours. Some of the slices were a tiny bit thick but I got most of it right. And I used a little too much marinade and made it too spicy for SWMBO. But otherwise we both liked it - much yummier than what you can buy in the shops.

Some questions.

1. Any ideas on meats to use other than fillet steak - works out a bit pricey.
2. Any cood seasoning ideas?
3. Is 5 1/4 hours a sensible time?

Thanks.

Tim.

Good idea. Thanks. How about the times? Does that seem right?
