View Full Version : Granny B
Well probably not what you expected as this is about my SAK and not an axe but the title is relevant.
Well i just got my SAK back from Bushwacker bob with brand new handles, they are made from fallow deer antler with a small walnut insert and red liners.
he done a great job and even managed to incorporate the tweezer and toothpick holes plus the victorinox sign

Just when I thought your work couldn't get any better Sean!
Leon, I'm sure you have said "cheers" - but I hope you realise just how much work has gone into that! That is a truly startling piece of work.
BTW BB if you want some more Fallow, I have a very large piece you would be welcome to next time you pop by

yes i know how much work has gone into it, it took him ages to get the toothpick holes right and i think he went through 3 bits of antler, it is an absolute beauty

Yes please Red,its very thin walled antler and I had to chop up loads of the stuff to find suitably thick pieces that were wide enough to cover the width of the blade but also thin enough to make SAK scales.
|I also had to incorporate the small tools,Granny-Bs walnut and keep it looking like a Victorinox, hence the red liners and Victorinox badge.
Your right,a lot of work went into it!;)

Very nice Sean. Especially all the work you've put into the small details.

What a cracking job it totally transforms the knife and the preservation of the typical SAK features (Logo and tool holes) finishes the look perfectly. Nice one Bushwacker keep an ear out for Victorinox tapping at your door! ;)

Yea, that's pretty much what is puzzeling me at the moment too ! That and I am also wondering about any replacement (blades, screwdriver, etc...) that Victorinox could do over the years, do they accept re-handled SAKs ? And if so, would you trust them to do the job :p ?
All in all, it's indeed a great looking knife :You_Rock_ (kudos to Bob). It's sentimental value just went through the roof !

Sean, that really is a superb piece of workmanship.
You can tell by looking at it that there's a person who enjoys their craft.
Leon, you must be very proud of it (neally as much as Sean is probably)

Some SAKs have an inlaid steel logo, some are printed with silver paint. This was one of the steel ones, there is a moulding hole on the back of the plastic scale and you can gently push a pin through and pop the badge off the front. On this one, it was remounted embedded in clear epoxy resin.
