Hi I came across this site while searching for information about Australian bush craft, having only recently moved down under from the UK. I have had plenty of outdoor experience in the UK but would be very interested in peoples experiences in this part of the world.

Hello Avalon :)

I was going to say "blimey you were up early this morning" but I expect that might be a
time zone thing! Australia's a bit far for me - I'm waiting until someone works out how to
get the continents a bit closer together before I visit! So I've no experience of that part
of the world other than through the television I'm afraid...

...but others have - have you seen this thread?

Welcome to the boards.

Hi Jodie, It's not that far away, less than two days travelling and not too difficult after the Heathrow bit. the biggest problem is the cost.
I watched the Bush Tucker Man programmes in the UK long before I ever had any intention of going to Australia and there is quite a lot of information about him on Australian web sites but not that much about living in the outback. There are a few books available but most of them are British or North American and not specific to the Australian environment.

Hi Avalon and a warm welcome,

There are certainly quite a few folk from Down Underland on the forum. I expect they will drop in soon.
