View Full Version : Going live in the outback
Has anybody heard that the Australian Government are opening the doors for immigration? Caught something on the radio today that they want people from britian to go live in the outback.
Anybody know anymore?
here's the BBC story: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3853597.stm
Cheers Womble.
Will be looking into this.
I watched it on the news this morning. They will give a 3 year visa based on less points if you go to southern Australia, you can then apply for residency after 2, you need to prove that you stayed in the south etc....Good opportunity for some! I fancy it, but it's a long way away and the wife is close to her family......
Yep just been reading about it - 110 points needed. Skills wise the top points granted are 60. I personally fit into a minimum of 14 catagories which is helpful.
It is sooooooooooo tempting - wife or not!
What? :?:
Actually I'm not so heartless but it is still tempting.
Do we hear the sound of Tony and Gary eloping?
I hear ya........I would like it just for a few years, see how it goes.....coming back could be hard though, especially getting onto the property ladder again...
well if you were to go there on sponsorship you could let your place in this country and then have the option of return.
In fact my rent (minus mortgage) from my uk property could probably pay for my to rent in Aus while paying off the mortgage here!

I'd move to Oz if it wasn't for the spiders, snakes etc etc ... as Terry Pratchett said "Practically everything that's not poisonous is venemous." :popworm:
Well if any of you decide to go and live in the Outback make sure you have a look at this first http://www.police.wa.gov.au/RecruitingandTheAcademy/pdf/aids22.pdf
