Hi, i was hoping someone here will be able to help me.
i have a victorinox climber and would like it rehandled, the thing is i want the holes that hold the toothpick and tweezers.
is this asking to much ?
i have some walnut from a tree that has a bit of sentimental value which i would like used as the handles
can any of you do it for me ? i will pay you for it after we have decided on a price
thanks leon

I've seen a couple of guys on BB do some really good ones. It's fairly easy - I've done one myself (no toothpick/tweezers) and am halfway through doing a little classic which will have the toothpick/tweezers. The smaller one's trickier. The slots will just take a little work with a needle file.

Have a go yourself, it might be easier than you think.

with a little effort you could make a tooth pick with the knife blade on your SAK and it will be more hygenic than re-useing a plastic one.
And who worries about plucking their eyebrows when in the woods?

just wondering if there's a fire steel small enough to warrant a new hole in the opposite end to the toothpick/tweezers?

yes the BCB 3mm one fits if you redrill the toothpick hole as been said you can easily make one

Tweezers however are difficult to make and great for splinters

i always had one in mine But haven got round to doing my new one yet (the old one broke and was replaced by Victorinox FOC )

i would like to rehandle my Hunter which is one of the larger Locking ones

i love the littlw toothpicks for splinters and the toothpick is just good to have just incase. i like the sound of having a firesteel on my SAK as it comes with me everywhere
any more ideas to 'customise it ?
can anyone do it for me ?
if your wondering why im off school, ive just got back from the hospital

Bushwacker Bobs SAK work is famous (or notorious) - I'm sure he can guide you at least!

The job he did on my folder (CS Ti-Lite) was fantastic!

i think i saw your folder he rehandled, come to think of it bone or antler would look good with maybe some walnut stripes as i have seen Bushwacker Bob use

I you remove the scale with the sign, you can pop out the sign from the back of the scale. Just do it gently.

You often see "junk" SAKs advertised on BB and e-bay for a few pounds - why not get one or two and practice?

no, not asking too much, its much easier than making the slots for tweezers and toothpick.
IIRC I offered to do it gratis, for you.If your really desperate for the TP and eyebrow pluckers,I'll do those too,but it will take a while. If you cant bear to be parted from your knife for a few weeks, why dont you spend some of the money you are prepared to pay someone to do the job on a 2nd hand SAK from E-bay (less than £10) and send me one or the other to re-handle?That way you'd spend less money, have a custom SAK and a backup in case you loose one.

Its a win-win-win-win situation.

i hav'it got the cash but it's on my wish list to have the main blade on my
swiss champ in stainless damascus
i've had it ten years so the blade more like a thooth pick now!
you always get a case of sods law when you have'it got it and your use to it
"i wish i had my sak" plugs/ beer/toe nails
but when you have you never use it- mad eh

bushwacker bob how do you fix the new scales on - is there a slickway or do you just epoxy them straight on. also do you profile them first or shape them on the knife. Ive seen some with mosaic pins are they just set in or what.
Lots of questions i know - i fancy dressing mine up a bit but not really sure where to start.

They way I do them is fairly similar to Cosco's tutorial via the above link.I usually reduce the height of the protruding rivets by about 50% as it doesn't affect their strenth and means I can make thinner replacement scales.I like to have the scales not much thicker than the originals.Mosaic pins on SAKs are usually 'false' pins and are set into the scale as opposed to going right through the knife.
I dont have electricity in my shed,so I make the scales oversized and then sand it all down.If you want a mosaic pin to go right through the knife and act as a pivot, then you have to re-drill the hole in the blade as SAK pivot pins are less than 1.5mm diameter
