Not really Bushcraft but a friend of mine gave me a rusty old broken sword blade. I have cut the end off and cleaned up the rust and put an edge to it. It's about 30mm wide and 8" long cutting edge. Its profile is very thin in the middle as can be seen from the pic.

I was wondering what to do to it now to do it justice and what sort of sheath I could make for it. What do you think.

lookslike a good blade and i like the recycling of anything.
its looking like a good old seax to me so possibly some antler or something ???

Must admit I agree with the Seax Idea. brass bolsters and an antler and birch handle with a sheath with a folded brass spine over the stiching. (but then I am a viking on the weekends so I'm biased. but it does look good, and you've made a great job of cleaning it up)

Yeah, I agree, antler would give a nice look on it ! Do you plan leaving the blade end as is or are you going to re-form it ?

PS: Is that The Precious I see on your finger ? :)
