Thats not a bad price. I have stayed out on a hill top in the emergency orange ones, but got a little damp and woke up everytime I moved / rustled. Since then, I got a simple green gortex version and been very impressed :-)

HI all

Please excuse my Muppetry but do these Bivys have a zip down them ???

Yes, normally side or a diagonal.

Some are as long as 8ft, for kit inside.

Thanks for that

I can feel a secret spend coming on !!! ;)

I've looked at them before but only seen them around the £50 mark , and as I would need a second ( 1 for my stick gatherer ) this was a bit expensive.

Cheers Rich

Hi
I live near Darlington and the shop that supplies this is pretty good, it is a fairly good price but I think that thay also do used condition ones for about 15gbp which is better and for a few patched good value I think.

just my thoughts

I got mine from strikeforce supplies (http://www.strikeforcesupplies.co.uk/stock.php?page=sleeping) in Olive at 40 UKP.
Maybe a little more expensive than some of the other places but the stock is issued but unused as it came from a disbanded N.I corp/brigade/reg or something before the kit got used.

I have not seen one of these issue gortex bivvy bags with a zip, just a draw string affair at the top.

At the same time I also purchased a green maggot sleeping bag (20ukp again unused) and combined it with the bivvy, poncho and termarest every other weekend in Jan and Feb this year. I was very toasty warm and dry.

The ones with a zip are Dutch Army and a lot harder to come by than the simple draw string ones.

Got one for FREE. Did a fellow a favor and he offered me anything from his store, and I took a bivi bag. No zips, but a generous opening at the top and a draw string closure. I don't like to completely enclose myself inside it, so I pull on a midge net and keep my head sticking out at night.

Make sure the bivi bag you buy is gore tex, or some other breathable, I know most are but a non breathable bivi bag is not really worth the space in a bergan even if it is cheap. Hada quick look at the links and they all seem to be, I can reccomend Outdoorcode as I have purchased from him before, good bloke to speak to.

I have the Kyham VSS which has a sympatex bivvy bag, ok for winter emergencies but you wake up wet from condensation, hence the gore tex.

I got a Dutch bivi bag from kit monster a couple of weeks ago but they appear to have none left. Its got the zipped opening down the front with a storm baffle over the top, a bit easier to get in and out off than the issue one.
