View Full Version : Sleeping Bags
I was thinking of buying Snugpak Softie Elite 3 for my son, who is 4. I am told they have "kidi-clips" that allow the bag to "grow" with the child. Has anyone any expierence of these bags or any other bags that can be used by children.
Cheers.
I havent actually seen the snugpak 'kiddie clips' But all I have done in the past
to shorten a full size sleeping bag is to tie the bottom off at the suitable length for the child, with a utility strap , belt or just a piece of para cord.
cheers Smokoe-keep it simple usually works best.

No problem Torak. I bet you'll find that 'Kiddie Clips' are little more than an over priced utility strap anyway.
I've got one of the Snugpak Softie Special Forces 2 in 1 sleeping bags and have been very pleased with it in all combinations.

I have the elite 2, it can be shortened using the clips but it only takes about a 12 inches of the bottom. Clips come in handy for hanging up for airing out etc.
Better to do as suggested and just tie up. The other thing I do when my kids come out with me it fold over the excess sleeping bag on top of them inside their bivy bag, gives extra warmth, I then tuck the bivy bag extra length underneath them, keeps them good and snug.
Have a look at these also, they are just the job, PM me if interestedhttp://www.bushcraftuk.com/community/showthread.php?t=20471
Using a belt has the added advantage of giving your young ones a nice padded foot rest to keep there feet warm too :)
The clips on the elite are more for making the bag smaller for a shorter man / women and possibly a teen but for younger kids I suggest the belt around bag, remember to make sure its tight as to not let heat escape into it. Putting it under there feet for extra padding will also prevent this.
Thanks for the advice guys
