View Full Version : Broken tarp?
Hi I was wanting some advice about tarps. I have a DD tarp and was using it this weekend in a woodland in Staffordshire, I was taking it down and my friends dod jumped all over it, when I got home on closser inspection I have knoticed the the dogs claws have caught the rubber coating underneath does anybody know whether this will affect the water resistance?. Should I get a new lighter tarp? or is it repairable?.

the water resistance is probably compromised in that area however, all is not lost. you should be able to get seam sealant compound from a camping shop. paint some of it (thinly) over the affected area and it should be fine.

silicone sealer is available from most good camping shops and will do the trick,it is however quite thick if used neat and works better if thinned down with some meths.best applied with some tension on the tarp and not just thrown over a table or similar.this will smell a bit so do it outside.try it first on a small part of your tarp as from what i have read here the the dd tarps are rubberised and you may damage the rest of it.
