View Full Version : Crossing Siberia
3 Swedish people will do an expedition through siberia from north to south. They will document the people living here but the most interesting thing is that they will survive on hunting and fishing their own food. This can be really interesting to follow to see both how their trip will be and if their equipment will work in this extreme cold weather.
You can read more about the expedition on http://www.siberia.nu
Excellent link Viking - a lot can be learnt from this me thinks!!
I only wish I could join them. Get a chance to meet people that live for hunting and fishing and being in the outdoors all the time.
You and me both. Even though the reality isnt as great as we might all imagine it would still be worth it just to experience these things!
Med vanlig halsning!
Daft question but what are they going to do with this wealth of information? Will it be published academically or will it be more of an expedition book-type thing?
I agree- I wish I was going (having seen the boy Mears and his programme on the area).
Right, no need to answer the above. I took the novel step of actually having a look at the site. Which is what I should have done before I asked the daft question.
I saw the the Ray mears program on Siberia today and it was really interesting. He spent 12 days with the evenk people, this is people that are living like they always have done.
Excellent programme :biggthump

The Long Walk is an incredible story of escapees from the Siberian prison gulags who walked to freedom in Asia. They had an axehead and homemade knife for their kit.
