View Full Version : Towel uses
just though itmight be fun to see how many uses we can come up with for a standard bathroom towel. I'll add then to the list as people suggest them
*neck support for people with bad necks when sleeping
*pillow
*scarf
*shade from the sun
*sleeping mat (1/2 length)
*tie corners togeather and use to carry things
*symbol that we are still civilized
*dry yourself (boring but useful)
*use as large wound dressing (not advised by me as may be dirty)

you could dry yourself on it :boot:
:rolmao: I see you have been reading hitch-hikers guide to the galaxy.
1. Use it as a whip to fend of the mighty bugblatter beast of Traal.
2. Use it as a sail
you could dry yourself on it
Only if it is clean enough though.

Adi,
Does Kath have any nice towels tucked away that she might have forgotten about? Something she doesn'y use all that often perhaps?
Be careful though! :-D :-D

Thanks Kath, you've made my day!

For the HHGG fan you missed the most important one. Soak the corners in various nutrients so you really are one cool frood!
And as for the char-cloth comment, as soon as I can find a metal tin, the old kitchens towels and the naff tablecloth are gonna be experimented on...

Here we go again. in trouble with Kath
:-D
They're also good for picking you billy off the fire without burning your pinkies on the hot handle 8-)
I did state standard, so the nutrient soaked corner don't count. I shall ad that it must leave the towtel in a working contition after it's been used so char cloth wont work
on the note of char cloth I'm thinking about terry nappies. kath get a few kids then you'll have some spare towels for your bloke to use up :-D
No:1 HHGG use for a towel, put it over your head so you can't see what you're doing!
cheers, and.
I thought it was put it over a bogiemans head?
Oh, no, silly me that's Pratchett's small square of blue blanket...

I love those books, read em all the time,
rolled up they make a great pillow,
on cold concrete seats they make great cusions,
wrap a rock or such like in a corner they make a great weapon,
wrap many layers of wet newspaper together and compress inside the towel wait untill hard and dry and its a reasonable anti stab jacket pad (yes it does work we tried it on a dummy),
wrapped around a dog or such like it can make a reasonable coat for it to get back to the car,
two people can use it as a seat base to carry an injured person,
water filtering sandy muddy water double up on the layers to improve the filter or add bog roll inbetween the two towel layers,
para cord to each corner it makes a food hamock or light weight person hamock,
put a stone in the corner to rope around,
wrapped around legs as per a skirt it makes a brilliant sun burn preventer to legs with shorts on and i had forgoten the sun block
and those are just the ones i have used it for. i must admit i dont use those new fangled fancy quick dry ones or come to that matter heavily modified flanels.
my royal towel was an beautiful cotton one i brought out it saudi

forgot the other one, add a split in the middle and seam sew the edges before going out and if need you have a warm poncho.
the main thing to do with a towel is to add to each corner and the two middle edges is some para cord loops about two inchs long and realy sew the life out of them as it makes the towel attachable then, the centre split can be done at the same time, and a small velroc sealed pocket to a corner also helps out too.
I went to a Zaphod weekend the once and a guy there did a two hour lecture on " your towel and what to do with it" he even did heavily modified face flannels and beer mat blankets (does anyone else remeber them). self defence with a towel and all sorts of other stuff a great couple of hours, same he only had one head!!
