View Full Version : Microscopes for kids??
Anyone got an opinion on a good starter microscope for kids to use? Cheap is good, although I do appreciate that there is no point buying rubbish!
Cheers

how old is the child in question. I'm not sure how much schools spend on them, it might be worth asking a school to see which ones they use
Good point, he's 6 and at the moment he's using magnifying glasses, I just thought that he would enjoy seeing even more detail.
I know some teachers so I'll have a word
Tone, My mother bought me a small microscope when i was about 7. you should take a look in a large toy shop or something like that. Or maybe even Argos?

tone, we have a kiddie's electronic microscope here, and there's at least one other company that uses them. made by intelor microsoft possibly, plug into computer, they are quite cool. http://micro.magnet.fsu.edu/optics/intelplay/ have a look at that.

Intel make them ... good bit of kit. The only problem is that they have stopped making them and dumped support for them and the last I heard was there there was no Win XP drivers of software for them.
I might be wrong - please correct me if I am because I was interested in one.
I might bid for this

Seems to be fine with XP
Yeah, you just need to download the XP update for it. Nice bit of kit.
