I have made some more fishing gear recently, in addition to this ice fishing stick (http://torjusgaaren.blogspot.com/2006/12/ice-fishing-stick-update_07.html).
Today I tried something I have read in a book, making a fishing hook out of a toe bone. It was hard finding a volunteer though. :p :D

Here is an overview of the hooks and gorges I have. The best looking one is broken. To the upper left of that one is the toe bone hook. The smallest gorge is about 1,5 long. The smallest hook is about 2 cm. The twisted nettle line is about 0,5 mm thick. The left set with attached elm bark line has a very big hook. About 6 cm long. To the upper right there are two halibut bone hooks. The largest one will have the sinew changed to spruce root when the frost and snow is off the ground.
And no, they have yet to be subjected to much field testing. Too little to tell anything about efficiency.
