Hi Guys&Gals,

I have a pair of Tretz hiking boots all leather uppers and Vibram sole there great except they make more noise then a herd of mice as I walk.

Th thought of rubbing vegtable oil or somthing into the leather but I thought I'd check if you guys had any suggestions.

A couple of questions ...
Are they GoreTex lined?
Is most of the noise coming from where the laces rest on the tongue?

Hi Adi,

No there not Gortex lined and most of the noise does seem to come from the laced area or around were the toes bend.

Slap some Nikwax or dubbin or whatever wax you use on the tongue (of the boot! ) and the noise will disappear. I find that flat laces are worse for this than round ones.

Thanks Adi,

I never thought that the tongue might make the noise. I will get at them tonight and see how it improves.

The cost me 60 punts around 75 euros about six years ago and have been going strong ever since. They are great summer boots.

Thanks again
