Just some pics of a 3 day walk I did in early September around the Hills to the North of Dundee. ( The Sidlaws )

Didn't do any Bushcrafty things - just enjoyed being out, taking in the view and chilled.

A field of sunflowers - not what you expect to see in Scotland.
A lot of farmers are sowing some strange crops these days, I have also seen Lupins growing.

Looking South over Dundee and the River Tay to Fife. From Carrot Hill.

Looking West to Craigowl Hill - the highest in the area 455 meters.

First nights camp. Managed to find a small stand of Birch trees in a mainly Fir tree filled valley.
Ate my Tea while watching some Hares playing in a nearby harvested corn field.

Wind direction changed during the night so I had to lower one end of the Tarp.

A visitor for Breakfast.
Also had a Red Squirrel jumping around the trees overhead - very hard to photograph though.

Time to go.

Second nights camp in a small Fir Tree wood.
Nothing seemed to live here, very quiet, except for a robin who appeared in the morning.

Time to head for Home.

Looking North - Getting a bit hazy.

Loads of butterflies and bees enjoying the heather flowers.

Decided to go to the top of Craigowl Hill as I have never been up it before.
Not very scenic with all the communication equipment.

Now that fair puts you in the notion for something other than wet gales, doesn't it? :D

Nice photos, good memories.

Thanks,

It was because of the high winds and rain outside that I was sorting through my photographs and decided to post these ones.

Yes the weather is very mild this year.

We have had only 2 hard frosts this winter and they didn't last through the day.
You can also count on one hand the number of times it has dropped below freezing so far.

I love this blog,

I once stayed at couston for nearly a ayear while I worked in the grey toon below. I went up kinpurney hill most days and got to know the area well.

Thanks for bringning those memories back!

Keep on walking in the free world man!

Nice pics. Seems you had a good time.
What kind of tarp is that you use? (size) Looks big for a tarp.
I'm used to sleeping under a poncho, maybe that explains.

Glad you enjoyed the pics Woodsmoke.

I have never been up Kinpurney hill. Maybe this year - I have always fancied a walk along the hilltops to Perth.

Try this guys site for pictures of Kinpurney

www.pbase.com/gwiz/kinpurney_cycle_trip

Geuf - my tarp is a nylon, flectarn camo tarp I got from www.flecktarn.co.uk ( no affiliation, etc)

The site says it is 295cm x 215cm but I have never measured.

It weighs 1.6 Kg though.
