Has anyone out there used one of the solar-powered torchs that claim to be waterproof and able to charge 2 AA batteries? I have seen them priced from £15 up to £25. They would seem to be great kit, if all claims are true. If feedback is not forthcoming I'll get one and review it. I'll be using it in East Africa so the solar potential will be used to the full, more so than would be possible in the U.K.

Got something similar.

Its rubbish! Buy a good LED light, Freeplay LED torch or something with a bit of a pedigree (really). Alternatively invest in a good solar panel to charge NiMH AAs and get a Petzl head torch in LED that takes em

Just my 2p
