• Dual purpose

• Fitted with quick running wheel and slow running whetstone

• Upper edge of water bath features notches to support backs of knives

A dual-purpose machine, so perhaps it can be considered double the value. The right-hand side is fitted with a 150mm by 20mm white dry grinding wheel running at 2950rpm and on the left hand side is a gearbox which reduces the speed of the 200mm by 40mm wide whetstone to 120rpm. The white wheel is used for rough grinding, either to reform a bevel or for tools that do not require such a fine edge whilst the whetstone running in a bath of water guarantees that a really super sharp edge can be achieved without any risk of overheating..

Ok so long as you only want hollow ground bevels!
With Weavers example you can do Scandi, Flat or convex grinds for the stronger edge.

Yes, there is a flat plate near the back of the belt. You can attach your own jigs there too.

The thing I like the most is that you can choose different belts. Very coarse for rough, fast grinding or very fine for finishing and steps between. Also good for wood, bone, plastics, glass, finger tips, brass and other metals.

Just checking to see if you are paying attention. :lmao:

Excuse my gross ignorance but couldn't you use the white wheel to rough out the bevel then finish off to a scand grind with hand files ?

Just trying to figure out how to put a bevel on my blank using what I have - namely a grinding wheel - are there possible issues resulting from heat build up ?

I dont know if this is any good for the bevels, but I saw one of these with a demonstration video playing at Axminster tool, and its the bees knees for sharpening. Even comes with an axe guide.

This is the minimum id use for bevel grinding.

Get a piece of angle iron, clamp the tang onto the iron with the blade sticking out. Then you can adjust the table to get the required angle for a bevel. You will need to make an extension for this.

Will post up pics when i have five mins
