Can anyone recommend (from actual use) a nice fish filleting blade. I want to make a Christmas present for my brother in law. I've seen the Lauri stainless - anyone used them?

Hi, any Scandaniavian filletting knife should do the job superbly!
I have a couple of Normarks + an unbranded one from Finland. They all have razor sharp & very flexible convex ground blades & fillet brilliantly.
Try a game fishing tackle supplier such as,
www.carrilon.com
or any others that may google up!

Ah I should have been clearer - not complete knives - blades you can buy and make up yourself.

Stu, I cannot tell you that I have used the specific Lauri blade that you are talking about, but I have used a lot of the Lauri blades and they are pretty good.

Can I take it you are talking about the one on Brisa???

Yeh that's where i've looked so far - I've used three lauri prog tempered scandi blades and are happy with those... you see the BIL is in the fish trade and a very keen fisherman - if the blade isn't great I know it wont get used.
