Willow bark

Does anyone have any ideas on how to seperate willow bark from the trunk at this time of year? I have tried using a flat stick to ease the bark off but it's as if it is glued on. Help, please.

Pour water (preferably hot) on the bark and pound the branch. That should loosen the bark.
