View Full Version : Wee bit of rosewood (or similar) wanted
I'm after a small piece (say about a 1 or 1.5 inch cube) of either rosewood or something similar. It's to make a firesteel handle that goes with my rosewood handled Grohmann.
Would be happy to swap for some first aid goodies: steristrips, antiseptic sachets, sterile scalpel blades, new disposable scalpel etc.
What sort of rosewood Doc? I think I've got some offcuts of sonokelling rosewood. I'm bound to have something else similar. Got a piccy of the handle I can match to?
Didn't know there were different types! Anyway, here is a pic:

Looks Good Doc, what did you use to finish the handle????
As far as rosewood is concerned I'll have a little look in my box of tricks and see if I have anything that will match:)
It's just boiled linseed oil. I ordered a Grohmann kit from Canada - a bit dearer than the last group buy, but cheaper than the UK . I find I'm using my canoe a lot and wanted a reasonably light knife in stainless. It's a very good knife.
The wood doesn't have to be an exact match, so if either of you can rustle something up that would be great.
Doc, I have an offcut that would suite that, send me a PM and I'll get it in the post:)
and if Leon's doesn't suit I have one too! :)
PM sent to you both. Thanks guys!!!
