OK,
I (think!) I'm sold on a mosquito hammock, but which one (I'm 6'2'' and 200 lbs so I should fit in any of them)??!

I'm still tempted by the Ray Mears Eco system, but I haven't found anyone who has used one. As for Clarks, great, but HOW MUCH?!?:yikes:
Whaddyathink? :o

The mosquito hammock is a great idea, once your in it, no more bugs.
I got a hennessy from evilbay for less than £80, for the ultralite backpacker, you can get them for upto 300lbs person. They are between £70 and £110 including a fly-sheet, very comfortable.
Good luck with whatever you buy.

i had the mosquito hammock and used it quite a bit before i used the trademarked magickelly sleep system!! :lmao:
i must say that i got a far better nights sleep and still do from his hammocks. i found that i could sleep on my side, and felt less constricted than the mosquito hammock, im 6'5 tall . i have since sold it on this site. they are good hammocks but if you want a bit of luxury i'd recommend trying to get hold of theses, plus they are much cheaper!!

Story of my life - info just a bit to late. My mum always told me "one day your ship will come in" knowing my luck I will be waiting at the train station :o
Well, I guess I am a hammock junkie. Even though I live in the desert, I have used a hammock in the northern forests and in Costa Rica, Puerta Rico and Panama. My first experience was with a US Army M1966 hammock, which I thought was perfect until I realized it was too narrow and was hard to rig up with a mosquito net. I have since tried a few others and own both a RM Eco sleep system and a Expedition model of the Mosquito Hammock. The RM is a great rig, but difficult (for me anyway) to get properly set up. Once it is all adjusted and set properly, it is the most comfortable hammock. It cost me a small fortune because of shipping and such to the states. I like the wide hammock because you can lay at an angle across and sleep flat, very comfortable. The hootchie is first rate, best tarp I have ever owned. I use it on most of my hikes as a tarp. Everything about the Eco is high quality. Price being the negative aspect.
As for the Mosquito Hammock, it is a good investment. I recommend one as a good "starter" hammock. I chose the Expedition model and it works well. Easier to setup then the Eco and way, way less expensive. Quality is good, it will last a long time and has good bug protection also. I recommend trying the Mosquito hammock because it is a great value. If you really need a hammock that is perfect for a serious jungle environment, you may later get an Eco system. It is the Rolls-Royce of hammocks that I have tried.
I have looked at the Hennesy hammocks but see little advantage in them over the Mosquito hammocks and the Hennesys cost a bit more also. Hope that helps! Cheers!

ive used the rays and the mosquito
and can say rays wins hands down
you just dont have the freedom of movement in the mosquito
i hear the hemsey is pretty good too though have never tryed it
i was kinda thinking rays was on the pricey side though now ive used it and other hammocks i am very pleased with it and when ever i have had to use other hammacks i have been really disapointed and wished i packed the eco system

I realy like my HH but I hate not beeing able to see how the rope it secured - it the engineer in me, the option of beeing able to simply change the rope/tap on the mosquito hammock. Of course I am not the tallest of pepole I will review the mosquito hammock when i take it out.

Odd that people don't think they can move about in the Mosquito Hammock, as i have no problem whatsoever, but I am a skinny 6'2" which might help??

space monkey are you sure your not me ?
lol
im 6ft 2 and skinny
i supose im bias with the mozy hammock as er well erm i fell out of one
I must admit after my old faithful Thai hammock died last year I've bought a few trying to get as comfortable as the old one. The mosquito hammock is good but too narrow to sleep diagonal, the best is the one i bought in venezuela which can hold 5 people but too big and heavy to carry. I am now the proud owner of the Magickelly hammock which is very close to my old one and really cheap. You can't really go wrong with these.
