View Full Version : New Sheath for Newish Knife
I decided that it was time to have a go at making a sheath.
I bought a few tools and the leather from http://www.leprevo.co.uk. I can really recommend their service - I've no connection except as a satisfied customer.

I enjoyed making this as much as the knife
Many thanks to Rapidboy for the tutorial
That looks excellent. Nice job on the knife too. What's the blade?

Thanks for the kind words. I made the blade too - 3mm 01 steel, the scales are Bocote - the dust of which made me feel quite sick despite wearing a mask and my skin itched for days. Some of these exotic woods are pretty toxic :yikes:

Great piece of work. I'm just starting in leather, if you forgive the expression! Could you give me a list of the tools you used on the sheath as I'd like to have a go.

I got the following from Leprevo :edge beveller, stitch groover (adjustable), overstitch wheel (5mm) and a skiver . I guess you could do without the skiver, I used it for the welt which I made quite thick at the top and then thinner further down. I also got some thread and some oil dye.
Hope this helps
Nice work. It must be a real pleasure using both, knowing they have been crafted by yourself.
