What's your favorite commercial food item when outdoors?
I'm partial to army ration packs (much cheaper than outdoor foods aimed at the civvy market) and my favorite has to be the beans and sausage! The hot chocolate is also wonderful stuff.
The pudds are OK but none really float my boat.
What's your favorite?

It's not out of date - just "well matured"!

I must be the only person I know who doesn't like sweet things. My favourites are anything with lots of salt and herbs :-D.

Black pudding.

Already cooked when you buy it, so you can eat it cold if you're cold-camping (or can't light a fire) and it keeps quite well in cool weather for a few days (I wouldn't trust it for more than a week at 10ºC).

My favourite is smooth textured and has chestnuts in it, similar size to traditional Yorks/Lancs pudding, but I also like the old-fashioned "galabar" from Auvergne with big chunks of pig's tongue and fat in it, that's around 6" long and 4" diameter and more irregular.

Keith.

If disposal of wrappers etc is no issue I quite like the all day breakfasts in the cans. Good for just pushing into the embers.
