Hi All

Some of you may already know this, but all the kit sold in Karrimor's own shops (the old YHA shops) is now being sold for half price! Apparently the company was put into Receivership last Friday, but a buyer came forward on Monday, but as the company is in the red, all stock is half price.

Hope some of you get some bargains
Cheers

Further info - They are selling Sabre 45's for £40, which I know one or two of you were interested in these.

Anywhere you can get this stuff online?

ranger
26-02-2004, 15:29
No all the stuff is only availabe direct from the shops.

If you have one near you have a good poke around as there are bits of military kit that were obviously buyers samples at very silly prices.

They are also selling Millbank bags with all the bits and bobs for £11.00.

Waits quietly for Mad Dave to come and smack me!

I am only assuming that they won't post things as when I called the couple of shops near me to make enquires on certain items they refused to check and said they wouldn't hold stock. As you can imagine the shops are packed out and the few staff there are, are rather stressed.

I'd say you have nothing to loose by calling.

I had a look at the sabre 45's but they weren't the patrol sac ones with the padded hip belt. They had a plain unpadded one. Looked a bit naff really. They were going for £40. If ya want I can pop in on my way home :-)

Martyn

ahhh, it's the new version I'm after, with the bungee cord top and padded back system/belt.

Thanks anyway. ;)

I too am looking for the patrol Sabre 45, must have padded waist.

I tried the Adventure Store in London today, 0207 025 1900 and “Yes they carry them, yes they are on sale, no they didn’t do mail order, no they couldn’t say how much they were, no they didn’t know if they had any left, no they weren’t going to check on stock or price, why don’t I come in and hunt for it myself?” JEEZ!!! Like hell I am going to go all the way into London on the off chance that this place will still have what I want.

Anyone within an EASY journey of a Karrimor store selling Sabre 45 sacks , with padded waist, fancy buying me one? Will pay postage and handling!

But only if they don't look naff. don't want a naff bag

The YHA shop in Cambridge was heaving yesterdar morning a 9.02! All the hardware - victorinox, maglite etc was long gone but everything else was half price or better.

I got a sabre 45 -not the patrol version but fine for what I need - for £25!
My step son got a Ridge 45 for £26!
Also got a decent coat for to and from work for £32

Hope some of you also got some good deals.

Dammit! I thought Cambridge was my nearest YHA store, so I wanted to ring on Saturday morning to see what was left. However, Yellow Pages directory enquiries could not find it and the YHA itself, in Cambridge, said there wasn't one. Conclusion, it's shut since my last visit - wrong!

Timing was never my greatest strong point.

Did they have much left - is it worth a visit this weekend? I'm after a Millbank bag and maybe a Sabre rucsac.

Ted,

I doubt the shop will even be open this week. The assistants were packing down all the display stands when I was in there on Saturday morning, and stuff was being bought at an alarming rate.

Thanks very much, saves me a wasted trip - and I hate parking in Cambridge!

Put it down in the "if only..." category.

Well you guys are going to get me shot by the mrs, went to the local YHA (who will soon be Field & Trek), thought I'd have a quick look and leave, ended up buying a small 2 man tent with porche for £23.50, couple of T-Shirts, a Garmon Fleece, 2 large Sigg Bottles, a chalk bag and an MSR Camping pot set... all for £83.50, anyone got a fridge I can keep the credit card in now???

Phoned up the Alnwick Karrimor store this morning, to ask if they had any sabre rucksacks left. They had the 45 and the 60 - 100 Lt ones, but at full price, it seem that none of the Karrimor kit was selling for a discount price there? :-?

No need to panic the military side of things is seperatly run, I phoned them and they said that they are continuing, so all karrimor sf stuff will still be available, perhaps not at the stunning deals you've been getting but try this for size a sabre 45 normal price is only £58, so all the website offering them at £70 plus are making great profit. even mr mears is making a nice margin. :-D

Yowee, who did you contact for the military side of things??

I spoke with Karrimor today and they have been taken over by, would you believe, Londsdale ( the boxing kit people) :-)

An update for those who may still be interested in this - as of Thurs 18th the Karrimor shop on deansgate manchester was in the "last few days" of it's closing down sale with 50% off everything and upto 75% of some items.
The only sabre sacs they had in stock were the adjustable 60-100 litre model, price is now down to £85 each. They had between 10 and 15 of them on display. There are loads of other sacs (pumas etc) but I didn't notice any jaguar packs and there weren't any smaller sabres. KSB boots (goretex + fabric) are going between £40 and £55 according to model.
If you want one, I'd buy in the next couple of days. The Karrimor factory shop in the Lowry outlet village looks to have closed some time ago. Cheers.

I went to the trouble of getting one of my younger sisters friends to make a special journey to the bristol branch in my name, to get a couple of sabre sacks.
He went in, and the shopkeeper said "We don't sell those! They are specilist military gear" I was angry to say the least. I couldn't really ask the chap to argue the cause on my behalf. Baddies, the lot of them!

Karrimor SF, the people who manufacture and sell the Saber range ARE TOTALLY SEPERATE TO THE KARRIMOR THAT HAVE GONE BUST.
So no sepecial offers on that range. :-)

I quite fancy a HOt Earth sack (they look nice in black/charcoal) if they are 1/2 price other wise It will be anothe Aquille Alpine Equipment sac. Geting over to Manchester is a bit of a problem though. Tried the Ambleside shop but they didn't have a sale on. Typical of my luck.

I seem to have a wardrode and gear store full of black stuff, still at least it all matches.
