I've just started a redesign of part of my website (http://www.lore-and-saga.co.uk/html/the_flip_side.html) , some of it is bushcraft related and some is photography.

I would be very interested in any comments.

Hi,
Really like the 3D effect and the great pictures. I've put it in the favourites and look forward to the missing pages! :D

I knew you had an excellent eye for detail, but Wayland your photography is stunning :D
It's a beautiful website......you do realise you're going to get pestered when you're at a meet next to take the pictures, don't you

Cheers,
Toddy

I'm looking for photo's to add to the bushcraft section so that's not a problem.

In fact I'm going early to the full members meet this weekend to set some bits and pieces up to shoot specially.

Normally I don't get to combine photography with my interests because cameras are not very authentic for a Viking but it's not a problem while bushcrafting.

What a very professional looking site, I have no idea how you create a site but this is how it should be done.

As for the photo’s, you really do have a talent, some of the best pictures I have seen in a long time, keep up the good work.

Thats really impressive and so is your photography, added to favs and to be regularly visited I think. Clean and clear - so much better than many commercial sites I visit!

PS. The main hall at lofotr is simply awe inspiring.

Look forward to meeting you at Chedworth.

Your site is getting better every time I look at it. The photos are great they would make really good wallpaper for the computer.
keep up the good work, I look forward to seeing all the completed pages.

Stunning work!

I have to join in on applauding your photos. They are nearly too good. Some of them look unreal! Like that one where you work on the knife; I thought it was a doll!

Wow, I am gobsmacked. When I first saw those lovely dropshadowed pewter-style ? menu buttons in the bushcraft section I thought this geezer has a great eye for style ... but then I saw your snaps:Wow: How you can make a few clouds in the sky or a plain rock cliff look so staggeringly dramatic is just magic for me.

Thank you so much for sharing these, :You_Rock_ ... even your rocks rock

err... so you like it then?.... :o

Wow... you're either all being really nice or you like the redesign.

That's nice to know because it's been quite a while coming.

The photography on the site has all been done with a little compact digital camera that I bought to take some shots for the site.

Unfortunately I've got no way to add any shots taken with my proper film cameras.

Having said that I'm selling my old film gear to get a decent digital SLR soon so hopefully I'll get some better stuff up there in the future.

Wayland. Really great site you've designed there. Having done a few simple sites myself I can fully appreciate the thought and effort that has gone into it. Good Job. :You_Rock_

Looking at a few random pages I noticed you've got a little discrepancy on your fire one (http://www.lore-and-saga.co.uk/html/fire.html). The pic at the bottom shows your blow poker on the left not on the right as it says in the text...........
Sorry.... :o ......I just notice things like that.
Hope you don't mind me mentioning it, but in my experience nobody usually bothers with mentioning such things, and it would bug me if it was my site.
Cheers, Wavey.

Well spotted. That's exactly the kind of thing that's difficult for me to notice because I'm too close to it.

I'll change that on the next upload, cheers for that.

On the new area you have some links at the bottom of the main pages one of which is <home>. This takes you back to the original area about vikingism but from there you cannot get back to the new area. I also found navigation in the new area a bit confusing in general.

Well done. Great site.

The upturned Coble (fishing boat) on Holy Island (Lindisfarne) is locally known as a Peggity Hut. Just a bit of useless info. You probably knew that anyway.

From the original site there are buttons on the right hand of the screen that take you to the Flip side, Photography and Bushcraft.

Thanks for the comment though, I'll look to see if I can make it clearer.

Don't buy a 'proper' digital SLR Gary. Everybody else with a camera will have to pack up and go home... :D

Got it.

BTW my favourites are

Hodges Close: magical, trees growing out of bare slate, lovely pastel colours contrasting with the grey slate, loads of places for your eyes and imagination to explore

Trevethy Quoit: that is big sky, it looks like it's radiating from the stones which, again, gives it a mystical, magical atmosphere.

Wayland

That's taken just by Souter Lighthouse so definitely Sunrise.

I might take you up on the guided tour, I'm usually up that way in January.

Thought it was, thats why i asked about surise and setting, you get some awesome sunrises, i used to go down their and watch them after an early finish on nights. Thats about 5 mins drive from where i live. there is a small cove along there that has a lot of flint. There has been a lot of changes in the coast line over the last 10 years. A lot of weather erosion. Still a nice piece of coast in places.

BTW,in polite Japanese society one says "playing at" when refering to a person's job: as in "are you still playing at being a barrister?"

I must say i'm inpressed, very impressed with your site, photography and attitude in general Wayland. Whenn i met you at a northern meet some time ago i realised you were a compitent bushcrafter and one from the 'doing' camp like Eric. But, i never realised you had such a proffesional setup.
As well as an excellent layout the content is extremely well written and easy to follow. Infact i would go so far as to say 'inspiring'.
:)
