Hi guys,
I am wondering if it is possible to buy an adult wintersleeping bag for a kid and fold it over or under the kid. You see, my kids are growing like wheat and buying the right size sleeping bag will kill me. Next season they will have outgrown the entire bag. My idea was like this, buying an adult bag, putting the kid into it and fold the stuff which is too long under or over the kid for a plus on insulation.
What worries me a bit is the bigger space the kid might not be able to warm up.
I am looking for advice from other Familie daddies here! How do you buy the right kit for the family but dont get broke?.
Do you have a good advice for me how I can solve the problem with the sleeping bags? I will have to buy now 4 sacks one for the wife and three for the kids.
I am happy for any help I can get
thanks

Dont see why you shouldnt fold a sleeping bag over, there will be plenty of isulation on the bottom layer then, maybe consider just adding a blanket over the top for extra warmth for the little 'uns?
Mr Strop
Not had to try it yet, (4 months is a bit young for camping, but he does sleep in a sleeping bag (http://www.gro-group.co.uk/brands/grobag/range/babysleepingbags/)! ), but I've heard one method is to tie a string around the bag at the right length - presume that will stay in place a bit better than folding it under.
What about a couple of large loop of a light elastic around the bag to take up the surplus abbe? that would trap air and create a better fit till they grow
Dave.
A belt round the bottom below the feet works :)
Goose beat me to it - that's what I've done for my three.

Get Nanok bags and zip them together so they can share your body warm. 5 in a row would be interesting till the little one says "roll over" :lmao: !
Abbe you could always get that moose skin out of the freezer and make them sleeping bags from that lol

LOL thats true indeed, I am sure if I only tell her about some new idea I have she will remind me that I still have the fox pelt in the shead and the moose hide in the freezer. You are right mate, I forgot, she will pull it out one day if I am not getting my stuff going soon. :D

Offer to buy her a new pair of shoes and she will forgive you anything (for a while)

Abbe,
the belt round the bag works well, but also we have tried stuffing the excess end (feet) into the bag stuff sack and using the toggle, fasten it nice and tight, it traps the spare in a lump at the foot of their bed, stops them sliding down any further and saves you carrying anything extra.
