Can anyone suggest where I can get hold of some Hammock straps (Tree huggers) for going round trees?
Everywhere I've found sells them only with a hammock.

i got some with my henessy a-sym, but they sell similar straps at any army surplus for strapping gear in transit - bought some straps for a mate's hammock, 6 straps for £1 :)

Hi Marts

If you send me your address details (info@woodlandorganics.com) I will have a set of tree huggers sent out to you! A pleasure to help out.

All the best

Jamie

You could just get some tape (eg from a climbing shop, or seat belt from a scrappies) and make your own. Just sew a loop in each end of a suitable length for you average tree.

Generally the idea is that because it's a wide tape going around the trunk of the tree rather than a narrow rope/cord, both the tree and the hammock rope are protected from damage.

sounds a good idea I shall try making a pair from a sling and carabiners

Youre more than welcome Marts.

And thank you for that kind offer for the kit to that charity, we managed to get together a lot of kit and send out to the area. We arent actively seeking at the moment, but do feel free to send it on in for a future load to go out there!

Cheers

Jamie
