Hi guys ,
I am looking for somewhere i can get hold of a waist coat type jacket for outdoor use . It must have pockets but not be plastered in them so wearing a pack is uncomfortable . The COP vests are a bit to heavy duty and generaly have to many pockets . They would also need to be unlined and in black . With space for a company logo . Cheap would but good , just not cheap and chearfull !
Any ideas ?
Cheers

Not sure about black but have you tried fishing tackle shops, particularily ones that specialise in fly fishing? They make lightweight ones in various lengths.

5.11 Tactical Wear do one but it's £47, though no doubt very high quality in unlined cotton. Looks like it would be fine with a pack. See www.USMCPRO.com they also stock a £15 cheapy that doesn't look too bad. Also have you tried Frontline in Bournemouth? They do that kind of thing cheap.

Hi Pumbaa, try having a search under either body warmers or gillets on google.

Something should turn up from there

How about Filson. I have a mackinaw wool vest that's lovely. Not overloaded with pockets and very warm and windproof. They do a charcoal grey but not black. But there's always dye.

from my own experience cop vest or gillets

they have possitive and neggative points

possitive:
they are comfy
loads of places for kit
you can still use a rucksack (as oposed to belt pouches)

neggative:
if you take it of and put it down, it can get muck on the inside whcih then goes on your clothes.
you can overload them which gets uncomfortable
you have to pack pockets carefully.

i have used 3 different versions, each has worked well but i've always gone back to belt based systems

my suggestion is you try everything out fully with kit loaded in the pockets before you decide on keeping it! ;)
