Hi
I have one of the original Crux stoves and find I can simmer efficiently with it, the main reason I went for it was it has one of the largest stove heads on this type of stove which meant the flame was spread more evenly over the base of the pan. Some of the micro stoves have a very small burner head which makes them liable to burn food if neglected whilst heating

I've had a Crux for quite a long time (5+ yrs) and performance-wise it is second to none; from the fastest boil to the gentlest simmer. The only thing that lets it down is its pot supports which are a bit on the flimsy side.
