Something I have noticed; when americans build loghouses the leave gaps between the logs that are filled with clay. In nordic countries houses are built with log tightly together without gaps.

Yeah, I´m not saying this one is better than the other. It´s just an observation that have caught my eye.

It is not unknown here, I remember once watching an archaeological dig a bit east of Helsinki, village remains from 1500-1600, there were bits of clay from a burned log house that were shaped so that they had been between the logs, lots of them. I have no idea how common that might have been.
