Great things,

Why (and this is a personal bugbear, no criticism intended) does everyone call them goosegogs (or something similar ish)? We don't do this for blackcurrants, or raspberries, or anything else. Why not just gooseberries??

Just curious.

For me they were introduced to me as goosegogs at about 7 and only found the real name about 5 years later, by then it was stuck in there, same for blackberries being Blackaas, as in "Are we gannin blackaa picking or what lyke? or "There's loads of Blackaas doon the railway line, you comin doon?"
