Arctic birch burr wanted

does anybody have any of this or know where to get some ,i,ve been wanting to make a kuksa for some time?

Arctic birch is not exactly easy to get our hands on here i know,but does anyone know where i could get a piece,or any other nice fruit wood for a kuksa.

Plain birch is basically the same as we get here, but the good stuff, Masur Birch is very, very expensive! Obscenely expensive for a log large enough to make two kuskas. Also, the problem with buying here, is that it will be seasoned and dried out timber which is much harder to work with.

Do a Google search for "Masur Birch" and find a small log about 4" to 5" diameter (without the bark). But be warned about the price.

Although not listed ontheir website http://www.turners-retreat.co.uk/acatalog/WoodBlanks.html they do sell masur birch logs. Be warned they were priced between £20 to 30 for a small log. They are also air-dried so harder to carve.
