I'm thinking of this one, won't know if it will work until I get the knife. Blade is about 2.5 in". Web

    Bison replacement

At 217gm. you should consider a baldric style of carry, that seems a bit heavy for neck carry. (BTW the H1 is my FAVORITE knife but I usaully find I want a smaller knife along with it. Often the Queen whittler.) Web

    What Folder..

I figured that sooner or latter I would have to explain about the queen whittler. It is useful in bushcraft for two reasons. It is my EDC and I ALWAYS have it with me, outdoors isn't a exception. But when you are working with wood you sometimes (often actually) need a POINTY...

Anyone ever flat grind a SWAK?

I like using sandpaper, on a mousepad (for convex grinds/edges DON'T press hard it will not work that well) on masonite, on cardboard or on a dowel (can do recurves and serrations with that. For sharpening in the field I use 600 -800 for reshaping everything from 150 to 2000 I bought...

    Khukuri's

I have the mini-jungle. Really too small to be much of a a chopper. I haven't used it much, the workmanship is good on the blade, the small knife is pretty useless, the bunisher is ok, the sheath is mostly functional but being a lefty I pay sheaths no mind in any case. Can't really say...

    A touch of elegance

Sargey I've been trying to NOT buy one for 4 years. I have two axes I don't use and I wouldn't use this one either. Still isn't is lovely! Web

    A touch of elegance

Hoodoo knows this. I don't use axes, make me nervous, however I've always thought that is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen made by a smith. Web

    Bushmaster Survival Knife

They do make stainless Opi's you know and I think the Stainless Opi #8 (I like the Olive wood handle and I convex the edge) is one of the best folding rough whittling (wasting the wood) and food prep. knives I've ever used. Sorry Hoodoo I just noticed your message. Uh, what he said. Web

    Balance or your bushcraft knife

Chris These are related questions for me as well. If the knife is a small one (3"-5") and it has a guard it MUST have a ricasso wide enough for me to choke up on (and a guard comfortable enough to do it) then I prefer the balance point at the front edge of the index finger, if the edge comes...

    Tactical ?

It may have meant something at one time but as far as I can tell now it is a marketing term that means "black" (e.g. the Gerber Yari is a prefectly useful knife for most task that was sold as "tactical' because it was all black. Web

    My first bushcraft knife

The convexing of the edge that JM did took care of that problem for me on my Ornan. Web

    Full North Star Review.

I doj't get it. If woodworking is so important to bushcraft (and it is) why not carry a purpose built tool. Like that one from http://www.pinewoodforge.com/catalog.html Web
