Show us your Bushcraft Hat (hopefully will end up pic heavy)

Yea my bonce is about 23.2 and the L was snug, I'm getting an XL too now I actually would have exchanged it but I un stitched the elastic bit thinking it may be better- it's wearable but pretty snug on a hot day. If you wear your hat woody from toy story style ie half way up your forehead then...

Show us your Bushcraft Hat (hopefully will end up pic heavy)

Well my real deal brazil hat came and I'm thinking I want another. This one is a large and fits just snug so fancy another a size up that will be less right for the hot days! So here it is, very pleased with the look and fit although was a bit snug at first. The hat has a elastic band inside...

Show us your Bushcraft Hat (hopefully will end up pic heavy)

Thought I would make a hat band for my new purchase when it arrives. Paracord with tibetan rosary beads stitched in. Modelled on my old buffalo hat it's nice but too hot on my head.

Show us your Bushcraft Hat (hopefully will end up pic heavy)

Well the hot weather has kicked in... I have formerly worn a years old knackered baseball hat. It got so shagged people started with the trucker and hillbilly comments so I thought... Time to go full redneck. I just ordered a real deal brazil tarp hat. For those not in the know its a brim hat...

    Anchoring knot

From the perspective of a canyoneer here are my thoughts. Emphasis for me is that you need a retrievable rope system and don't want to simply abseil from a double rope for whatever reason, this may be down to not having a long enough rope or using a descender specific for single ropes which you...

    Walking Staff / Quarterstaff

So... In a moment of madness and after getting very in to the idea of a wooden staff I take a look at: http://www.easycomposites.co.uk/Products/carbon-fibre-tube-roll-wrapped-19mm.aspx It's a nice carbon fibre pole for 50 quid. Was thinking it would be nice with a wrap on the top section...

    Walking Staff / Quarterstaff

As time goes on I'm beginning to see the usefulness and practicality of a pole for walking. I don't have much love for the metal telescoping variety but am thinking of crafting a 5 foot or so wooden staff. Just off the top of my head it would be great for... -walking -river crossing and...

    Looking for a poncho......recommendations please

The photos from eBay don't say much but I have spoken to the seller and he seems a good fella! Incidentally I don't see any USMC logo's in the pattern... So defo not a marine pattern fabric ever issued in us forces. I don't even know if this camo was used by other militaries? Any camo...

    Looking for a poncho......recommendations please

Just ordered a poncho from eBay "UAE special forces issue" it's listed as... It is in a desert marpat fabric which I know is not for everyone. I will put a small review up here when it arrives. Anyone seen the hazard 4 poncho? It's a bit extreme but the kit whores are gonna love it.

    Tent advise.......

I still use a Phoenix phreerunner which is 20 years Oldskool! It's goretex and a single pole done style, for one or 2 at a push it has not let me down. There's a few companies make similar offerings nowadays, macpac is one from New Zealand. Remarkably hard to find on google.. This isn't my...

If you have a ferro rod on your sheath, may I ask why?

Thanks for the welcome fellas. In reverse order . . . Ged: I see where you're coming from... But I don't fancy carrying anything in a way that's easy to lose when it can be avoided. Except my virginity but it appears I can't give that away lol. Lucky_lee: I have seen a few with the bungee...

If you have a ferro rod on your sheath, may I ask why?

Afternoon, I think bushcraft knives look lovely with a ferro rod alongside the knife carried in the sheath. But again and again I have to ask myself (from a practical standpoint at least) why bother! Ill summarise my feelings in bullet points and without turning the thread in to a flame war I...
