    Airguns?

I have a few. An Airarms under lever is my favorite in .177. A couple of German break barrels also in .177. My competition gun is a German FWB single stroke pneumatic, and my FT gun is a pre-charged Daystate. They are all scoped, except the target rifle that is iron sighted to comply with...

    Hands only CPR

Thanks! We have the American Heart Association and the Red Cross here and both teach CPR; there are subtle differences between them. CPR does seem to have settled out a bit. At one time every time you got recertified it was so different from the time before you started to wonder if any of it...

    Hands only CPR

People are people, I know a European heart is no different from an American’s, or an Asian’s heart, yet the protocols here in the States are quite different than the UK’s. Not saying one is better than the other just an observation. But wouldn’t you think there would be a worldwide standard...

Is it wise to carry a whistle

Funny whistle story. I was diving with a friend years ago now and I lost track of him. The procedure for a lost buddy is pretty simple, if you have the flag you stop and wait for your buddy to surface find the flag and descend to you. I waited a few and he never appeared, so I surfaced. I find...

Variation on PJ and Cotton Tinder

I’ve seen the all wax method on cotton balls. I watched a guy heat a canteen cup full of water for a cuppa over one in fact. They do burn long. One additional side benefit of this premade tinder is that PJ has multiple other uses in the field, from anti rust coatings, waterproof leather...

Variation on PJ and Cotton Tinder

    1. The cotton squares are pretty well woven so they do come out in sheets, sometime the separate into layers of material, but they are always well coated so it’s not a real problem. 2. Just showing the liquid PJ being added to the tin full of squares. Hot PJ is just like oil (thin and...

Variation on PJ and Cotton Tinder

The PJ will set back up with or without the bee’s wax in it, but I feel it does give the finished product a higher melting point so the PJ is less likely to turn into a sloppy mess if you leave your kit in the bonnet on a summer’s day. I also feel it extends the burn time of the tinder too...

Variation on PJ and Cotton Tinder

Raw materials, Petrojelly, a bit of bee's wax (for anti melt properties in final product) a candy tin, cotton squares. Melt the PJ and bee's wax in a water bath. I'm simply using a tuna tin. Layer the cotton squares in the tin and pour in the now liquid PJ. Pop the whole...

Bicycles - what do you have?

I have a Rans long wheel base recumbent road bike. I’ve recently replaced the original “T” bar steering with a set of “chopper” bars which gives me a nice place for a smallish bag, and combined with the racks on the back I can really load her out for a good long multi day trip when the mood...

Hunter: A Knife by Andy Roy of Fiddleback Forge

That is indeed stunning! Are the “pins” rods of micarta? I don’t recall ever seeing scales pined like that but it really add a nice touch of class. Wolf

    Hello from the United States

Hello, I live on the east coast of the US near Cape Cod, but spent my childhood in the northern US fishing deep mountain lakes and tiny little trout streams, and hunting deer and moose. I love to and live to fish. My current employ even involves commercial fisheries. I’m looking...
