I really like amazon prime. I got it for the TV package but the free next day delivery is very handy, and they even deliver on Sundays. I'm also terrible at remembering birthdays so the ability to order something and get it delivered to a different address is great.
I'm pretty sure that these are Clitopilus prunulus, The Miller, but would welcome a second opinion. There were found in mixed woodland and had a distinctly mealy smell, kinda like St George's Mushrooms.
If those Klymit are thought to be pricey, you'd baulk at my pillow set up - an medium Exped air pillow with a medium Thermarest down pillow on top - £60 of lightweight comfort.
In my defence I can't get a decent sleep unless I've got good pillows and I'd tried all the usual pillow solutions.
I've noticed what looks to be a bit of a second flush of penny buns out at one of my spots. I Hadn't seen any there for over a month but on Thursday there were a few prime examples poking through.
Fire maple are the company that make the alpkit stoves as well as stoves for a number of other manufactures. It's not cheap rubbish, here's the same stove on sale in the UK for £70 http://www.ultralightoutdoorgear.co.uk/fire-maple-m93
I saw this on aliexpress and thought some of you might fancy a punt on a £18 fire maple petrol camping stove. Sent from China but for that cash not a lot of risk involved...
Snowy meadow cap, Snowy wax cap, Hygrocybe virginea, Camarophyllus virgineus, and Hygrophorus virgineus are all just synonyms. http://www.mushroomexpert.com/cuphophyllus_virgineus.html
+1 for PHD. They offer bags with water resistant shells and have a design your own bag option where you can customise everything. They tend to do an autumn sale and that's how I got my my winter bag which is a -15 rated PHD bag that weight 1kg.
I found a couple of new varieties to me that I'd appreciate an opinion on. They were all found in a Beech wood in Scotland
This is the first one which I'm pretty sure is some form of Tricholoma, but can't pin it down. White/grey gills with grey/brown cap and white stem - Grey Knight/= Ashen...
I stumbled across these when out on a forage today. Could they be Deathcaps? It doesn't show up well on the photo but the cap had a slight greenish tinge. One thing I couldn't see evident was a bulb at the base of the stem. Anyone got an idea of what they are?
You're obviously getting out there an snapping up all the penny bun's when they're in their prime :)
Up here this season there have been loads of penny buns and they've been going from little and prime to massive and past in in a couple of days.
I just wanted to make sure your excellent message was guaranteed to be received by subsequent readers (and nothing to do with skimming thread on my phone :) )
I haven't eaten Fly Agraric but there is a way to prepare them that removed the drug compounds and makes them quite tasty. This chap gave it a go - http://honest-food.net/2011/12/24/eating-santas-shroom/
Now who's going to be first to give it a go :)
I saw this beetle-type insect on the wall beside my back door today. It's not one that I'm familiar with - anyone know what it might be. I'm based near to Edinburgh.
