    look at this

Last summer me and my housemates went to a forest in Huddersfield a couple of times a week. The first time we scouted around we found the perfect spot, but it was STREWN with rubbish. Beer cans, smashed bottles, all sorts of crap; it filled up 2 whole bin bags. And then a badger or something...

24 Hrs of Solitude - a scientific perspective

This sounds like something I need to try when I need some time to sort my head out! If only I could find a place around where I live where that was possible! :)

    Oxfordshire Bushcraft Group

I didn't manage to make your new years meet Swyn :( Although i've noticed you are thinking of doing it again in the summer, so i'm going to make sure im available for that! In the meantime, are there any plans in the pipeline for anyone at the moment? :) Pete

    New Year Meet at Swyn's

It's a shame I couldn't come along Swyn, it looked like a great meet! If you plan another one this year i'll have to make sure I can make it! :) Pete :)

    Scratchy Knife

Thanks for your informative replies everyone! I think I just assumed that it should have a mirrored finish as an indicator that it has been sharpened sufficiently. Thanks for clearing up that that isn't the case :) If it's just a cosmetic thing, and a 600 grit is as high as fine as I need to go...

    your first bit of bushcraft

The first thing I did was only a few weeks ago, I made the smallest paddle known to man! It could be used by a 4 or 5 inch tall person :) I've got a bit of string around it and pinned to my wall now! Pete :)

    Frosts Fanclub

I am also a fan, for it's the first and only knife I own! I've got a wooden handle one like the one on the right here. It was unfinished so i've decided to dye it a rosewood stain then varnish it with some danish oil. ...however i've stained it and it looks absolutely horrible. I don't think...

    Two different knives (picture heavy)

Wow they look fantastic. My favourite is the Nessmuk. The handle and where the blade is held between is stunning.

    Scratchy Knife

Hi all! I've been sharpening away (following the wonderful 5 pound kit tutorial), but I can't seem to get the blade right. Even though it is quite shiny from going through the stages from the different grits, it's certainly not scratch free; the bevel is covered in fine scratches. Am I...

    Bushcraft Dogs...

Why do humans and dogs get on sooo well? I've heard of the various ideas of why humans and dogs started to live in conjunction with eachother, but I just can't think of another animal pairing that get on so well! Humans love dogs and dogs love humans. Are there any other species that are like this?

    Bear Furnell...

haha great vid! "If I don't get through this forest.....i'll DIE!" Who's the walker who keeps walking through the "dangerous" terrain? :D

    Unusual encounters in the wilderness

When I was younger I was at my mates house and we were playing with a huge cardboard box, which are always highly entertaining when you're a kid! Just before he put the big lid on it I saw a cat jump in (another species who love a box!). So I said "hey wait a minute, your cat just jumped in the...

    How to make a chair

I love that A frame chair. So simple but looks very comfy. I can't wait to try and make that :) I've heard that the human eye can see 30 frames a second. So I propose a video speaks 30,000 words (a second) :D Pete :)

Wellies - where to get them?

I found some of these snow-shoe type things in my house. They were bought a couple of years ago for around £25 I think from Beans of Bicester. I went on a walk with them when it was snowy and they were great! Nice and comfy, warm, very flexible and easy to walk in, and most importantly...

    Five pound sharpening kit

Great tutorial! It's the first time I need to sharpen a knife so I will be following these instructions even more carefully again later! Pete :)

Great! Just found it. Cheers Simon! Pete :)

    SELK Bags

I like the idea of them. Although at prices starting at £89, it seems alot to pay for something that you're not sure is going to be better than a bit of a gimmick. The most expensive one there is £229! I don't have much experience with good quality sleeping bags, but I assume you could...

    Knife Sharpening

Hello all! I've been whittling away with my (first ever!) mora knife and it's got pretty blunt now, so it's definately time for a sharpen! I've seen lots of tutorials all over the place, which often mention Japanese wetstones, which I dont have unfortunately. I've found an old sharpening...
