    small survival tin fixed blades

    Check out the Buck Smidgen or Hartsook. Same knife just different steels. 4.25 inches in total length. The Hartsook is s30v and a very capable tool. Will fit in a small tin inside it's cleverly designed sheath.

    THe Buck Hartsook is worth a look. A small but very capable little neck knife. Can be had for around the £40 mark.

    Make your own. Old wine corks with a hole through the middle. I give them a bit of sanding and a dab of neon paint round the top. Also some balsa dowel off eBay cut and shaped to your size of choice would be ideal.

    Did the sanding and reshaping the handle on one of my No8s. Finished it with a rub of dark coloured furniture renovators wood wax and then a couple of coats of boiled linseed. Turned out great. Would post a pic but not at home at the moment. Great knives and outstanding value at the price.

    Renapur is a great product for boot care. It has a similar consistency to dubbin and worked in to the boots will protect and preserve. J&E Sedgewick produce a range of excellent leather care products. They are a leather tanners and should have a fair idea what is good for the hide. Their brand...

    Advice while looking for a respectable hat

    Check out some of the Tilley hats. Slightly different style but excellent quality and very practical outdoors headwear. Worth every penny.

    Gor tex lined boots advice wanted

    Can't get on with goretex lined footwear at all. I find the heat builds up to a very uncomfortable level and regardless of manufacturers claims, they get damp and clammy inside. Also tend to pong after a while. 3 pairs of hiker type boots I use are all leather lined. Lowa Renegade: probably one...
