    Keeping the cold at bay

    Definitely give the thermal baselayers a go. My girlfriend got me a set of icebreaker 250 leggings and longsleeve shirt, and they've done the job nicely while sitting round the fire in Norway and Sweden the past few weeks, when it's been down to -10°c. Obviously a nice wooly jumper always helps...

    Got any snow yet?

    About 6 inches around Stockholm, although I went for a hike this morning where it got up to knee deep in places. Was -10°c when I left my flat this morning and the temperature hovered around -8 most of the day.

    Really great thread here Tom. The linen hunting shirt looks really great, as does the rest. Is it all for re-enactment or for everyday use? Either way, great stuff. I'd love to have the skill to do something like this.

    Almost anywhere you go in Sweden you'll be able to find remote forest, even within a few miles of the city. If you're looking for the bushcraft experience, I would avoid national parks, as although they are stunningly beautiful they have very strict laws around fires and camping etc, often only...
