    Legality and Perception of EDC's

I carry a rough rider UK legal most of the time and a sak some of the time(It tends to be in my bag). If I have an excuse I will carry my Leatherman. I binned a rough rider on the way to a football match as I forgot to leave it in my car however it was in the press that someone got caught in the...

The time has come the Bushcrafter said.. Light weight rucksacks. Most of my kit is old and ex-military at the age of 70

I would take a long hard look at your kit because an 80 liter rucksack is a lot of space. Check out the "Three points of the compass" blog as he is UK based and is a very good guide in heading towards lightweight. Once you start looking it amazing how heavy somethings are however there is light...

    Brooklyn-Based, Moving to UK

Something I forgot is you might want to check out Paul Kirtley's podcast and website plus other UK based before you come as there are things you can get that are not available in the UK. You can buy anti-biotics which we have to be prescribed them by a doctor. Codeine on its own is also...

    Brooklyn-Based, Moving to UK

Scotland is the best place in the UK due to the right to roam. The big thing to check is our weapon laws as they are bizarre. Also it worth checking what sort of stove/fire you can use as no one seems sure on a location by location basis. Also what sort of transport are you going to use to and...

How do warm blooded people cope

Very confused. A temp of 40 Centigrade is Gran Canaria hot and that does not happen in the UK. To be honest my advice is to get everything tested especially your liver because if you are running that cold something is wrong.

    Monty Alford's Yu-Can Stove

I really like the idea of having a water(snow) pot on top so you could put your mug with water on that or cook on that/boil water in the inner. I have an alcohol stove idea which would work great with this I think.

    Bushcraft show 2024 ..what tent?

Go to GoOutdoors and have a wonder round with her and find out what size of tent she wants. If you going to do some car camping a tent you can stand up in, a porch and no sewn in groundsheet are really useful points.

    Monty Alford's Yu-Can Stove

What book are the instructions coming from as Monty Alford's Wilderness Survival Guide has a completely different diagram for an even more interesting stove.

    Homemade canoes?

Gary Dierking Wa'apa has always stuck me as a really interesting idea. Also have a look at the Nessmuk canoes because no one is really making canoes like that any more. Check out song of the paddle forum as there a lot of good books out there being recommended.

    water bottles and water

My hiking bottles are 850ml smart water bottles. I tend to carry 4. If going over night I add a 3l platypus to that. I also carry a plastic roll up bottle which gets used during the night if required :) I have 2 bushcraft set ups in that I have a set built around smart bottles and a US canteen...

    Primitive Tech Tree

I have said about this before what skills do you need to advance? To give an example, to make cord you need to be able to: Identify certain plants How to prepare them How to twist fibres You have to wonder were things like distaffs and spindles fit in as a next step and then you have rope...

Bushcraft tools that could be classed as weapons?

Never take a caution because you cannot get it removed from your record and people have taken them for legal SAKs. A weapon is what they say it is in law however an offensive weapon can be anything as people have found to their cost. Under UK law you cannot carry anything for protection because...

    My Covid-19 and later projects

I get the impression the autobiography would make for good reading.
