Just polish them every day for a couple of weeks, this will build up enough polish to water proof them. I have worn my Lowas every day for the last 7 years and they still look like new. I polish them every few days.

Im getting issued MTP in January, it is much better than DPM for current use, but for good old British Woodland DPM is ace.

I would say Pajero. If it is just for softroad then don't discount the Rav4, they are bomb proof and quite economical.
