Tool ID help

Can anyone tell me what this pair of pliers are for?

It was one of my fathers and if it was designed for a specialised task he didn't know.

I think there ''Crimping'' Pliers.I found afew pairs when we had a sort out of my Gran Dads tools.

Plumbing pliers, they come in at least three sizes as, yes I've ended up with three.

Anyone have any thoughts as to the purpose of the points at the end of the grips?

gas & burner pliers I think, no clue as to the points though

yep, gas/plumbing pliers. The pointy ends are for undoing flat head screws as sometimes seen on pipework and the cone shaped point is for flaring the ends of a pipe to make better seal on compression joints (car brakes often have the ends flared for the same reason).

I have several pairs (in a couple of different sizes and also thicknesses) and I use them a lot in the workshop The wide jaws are amazingly useful

i could see the wide jaws make them cool like holding round metal to blacksmith but my gut is saying i would not use those now days with gas i would use a new modern flar tool
