Oh cheers for that guys I'll nip out first thing in the morning and see if my local B&Q have any, sounds just the job. Where I live I get a lot of high winds blowing straight off the sea, especially when it's stormy so this sounds like it might just be the answer to continiously renewing the felt. Thanks.

I have two the same as yours and an Elwell 6 too, patiently waiting.

Refurbishing Elwells has become a bit of a thing for me - I've done 8 or 9 this year so far and I lost count last year

My favourites are the smaller Elwell 2 1/2, which makes a really nice and useful tool. I've put different length handles on and found that they worked nicely as anything from a hatchet to a limbing axe, just by having the same weight/size head on a different length handle.

Yeah, I know. I need to get out more...

I need to slow down on them because I've more or less run out of people to give them to :)

:D :D

adult fans of lego sounds amazing! I love lego!

well on Saturday I'm going to be doing a few bits here:
http://www.ancienttechnologycentre.co.uk/

I helped build the longhouse and volunteer there when I'm not at uni. Apparently there isn't much to do so I'll more than likely be in the forge.

Saturday night I'm off getting pashed.

Sunday - I'll be in the forge all day. Got quite a few things I want to finish.

Me too mate! Just got in from a car boot where I managed to pick up some more rusty treasures: a couple of bill hooks and 3 axe heads of different sizes. I think refurbing has become an obsession in it's own right for me aswell!

Do you think they might take a group booking on counselling? :p

Doing as little as possible today.

Well, 12 miler home with the dog and then off shooting tomorrow.

Last weekend I took the Simmons Pro-Air 6-18 x 40 (18 yrs old) off my HW77. I never really fell in love with the rifle but it was the scope that was diffy not the rifle.

I reverted back to my old trusty 4x32 Bushmaster, fixed it to my 77, zeroed it in and was hitting where I wanted.

Confidence in the rifle has gone through the roof so off out tomorrow for more practice.

Have spent most of today cutting and tearing old clothes into strips to use on the Peg Loom my OH is kindly knocking up in his shed today.

One little girl is excitedly waiting to have a bash at weaving her own rug.

Work tomorrow sadly :(

Good thread :D

I'm servicing the tractor and 'muckey flingerson' and spreading a years worth of muck on the field,

Here's one for you Sniper....Once you have felted your shed roof and 'Sikkaflexed' the joints, counter-batten the whole lot with tanalised battens at 18" centres (vertically). This will stop the wind trying to lift the felt and keep it firmly on the under boards. In my opinion it also breaks the monotony of a large area of roof. Just remember to ensure you either clip the nails or bend them over!
Hope this is useful!

Swyn.

Ended up rebuilding the wall to the forge as it got a bit haggered. Then spend the rest of the day splitting logs for the fire.

Going for a walk along the beach with the dog tomorrow.

I like this thread - we should keep it going.

Did everyone get their jobs done?

No !! It rained on Saturday, so got very little done in the garden. I managed to get 3/4 of the digging done on Sunday though :)
