Hello Green Fingers & Tree Huggers,

Can any of you i.d. this plant please?
Jura mountains, France. So I assume it is Jurassic.
900m elevation. South facing. Lots of them on the side of a grassy hill. Cow poop everywhere. Mid July.

One of the bitterest plants around! I did notice the burdock type roots. Interesting that the cows eat the flowers.

The reason I asked, is that in the first picture you can see a dead standing stem. These were everywhere and made excellent hand drills to be used straight away.

That cow poop don't half look like rocks.... what do they eat over there ?
