Which Android based free ware Offline Smartphone Road and Street Navigation system is currently (2019) the best in France in your opinion?

Do you know a free ware offline car navigation Map system for Adroid based smartphones, that knows the big streets that go around the town centres instead of guiding me on the old route nationale from church to church through the centres, following the royal or napoleonic national roads?

Do you know one, that really is able to guide me intelligent through the "sense unique" street labyrinth of larger French towns?

The question is asked to those who really drive very often in France.

I discovered, that several navigation systems that work very well in Germany are horribly working in France, for example the brand new Volkswagen System in 2017. The reason is, that in Germany the biggest street usually has the highest official name.
But in France a route municipal sometimes may be better than a route departemental or national. And most navigation systems do not know that.

Erbswurst, sounds like you need to send people over to France and do some surveying. Your survey are mostly pre 1939, and the roads have changed since!
:)

What is wrong with a map? Many excellent maps to be bought, just make sure you get the latest edition.
Maps are superior to handheld devices, you het a much better overview, not least o the larger size. And they work without a battery, you can drop them.

The French turned their road signs to random directions in 1939, and they've not bothered to set them right since. Also, about half of them are positioned next to trees and bushes that have grown a lot since, and so they are now hidden.
;)

SWMBO uses Waze, rather than the embedded sat nav in our car.

I've not tried OpenStreetMap for a long time. It might be worth trying.

Perhaps now a days the street signs in France turn in the wrong direction automatically if the cameras spot a german number plate ...

With paper maps alone it is as good as impossible to navigate in France now a days by car. Currently France is a labyrinth of one way / one direction streets.
Without electronic navigation system one is immediately lost, especially in the towns.
