I was good this year Santa brought me an Optimus Nova Plus and Cookset. Need to start experimenting with different fuels.
I got a large Kelly Kettle, wanted one for about 12 months now, also a Kodak Z650 Digital Camera. So when I learn how to drive it I should get some photo's on here.
A big book on fungi - really do want to have the confidence to pick wild mushrooms and hope this will help, although perhaps the wrong time of year to really start - and a whistle (loud and shiny) just in case I get lost!!

Thank you for your comments. The stove was a present from the wife and the cookset from the in-laws, not going to complian. Tried it out in the Ashdown Forest with Coleman fuel on Thursday, pleased with the performance. Just bought some paraffin from Homebase, £5 for 4 ltrs, will give it a try next weekend.
I just ordered a knife blank and a King waterstone (6000). The stone cost about 40 and the so does the blank. It think it's a good deal.

very good time i was given the dragon fire steel (bottom left) http://www.primalconnection.com/3bbCustomStrikers.html and leather working tools from attleborough accessories who are not to far from me. have had a great time trying out diferent cloths and plants as char and tinder. i have some knife blades and have been trying out antler handles and will now have a go at some sheaths.

rik_uk3 - a quick question if I may. I have a coleman sportster http://www.bosfish.co.uk/PRODUCTS/cooking-lighting/le925stove.htm I use for soup/brews when I'm beachcasting or at a fixed camp where no fires are allowed and have used coleman fuel and unleaded in it, but mostly unleaded
On the bumpf it says you can use unleaded so can you tell me a bit more about why it's so bad for the stoves and a bit more about 'panel wipe' which I've not heard of and if it's definately the same as the coleman fuel (which is a tad expensive). Are there any brand names for panel wipe I should look out for? - Any help and advice much appreciated. - cheers

Not quite bushcraft, but an excellent present nonetheless: The Dangerous Book for Boys. I also got the Mountaincraft & Leadership book, a Petzl Micro and a Gelert Survival Bottle.
A post-Christmas trip to Keswick provided me with a First Aid Kit, some Maya Dust and some tent socks as well as sleeping bags, lanterns and head torches for my kids.

I did quite well, I got given an ulfrotte baselayer, spoon knife, new 12cm billy, a natty little monocular, and money from my folks that will be put towards a new sleeping bag. Plus while at my parents my old man found an old norgie top he no longer needed and gave this to me!!
You must've all been very good this year. I must've been the devil himself, cause I got nowt .

Sure I paid for all of that..

Unleaded petrol in the UK is full of junk, this will lead to a faster clogging of you stove jets in the end, but the main issue I have, is the potentially carcinogenic fumes the combustion gives off
Not a problem with fumes on a beach, but its just habit with me now not to burn the stuff in a stove or lampIf you go into a motor spares shop and ask for a 5 litre tin of panel wipe, you won't go far wrong. I think the number to look for is UN1268 which is Naptha fuel. Other stove collectors and I have used this for some time now, and the stoves burn really well on the stuff, plus its a LOT cheaper than Coleman fuel.
