I see Haytor is mentioned, please be aware there are sections of Dartmoor which access is not allowed and neither is camping, a map is available showing which parts are allowed and which aren't, camp in the wrong place and you could be asked to move on.

Interesting Hagrid, i have lived on Dartmoor all of my life, and am well aware of the rules, although thanks for reminding me, wasn't sure where i had mentioned, that we would be camping on the open Moor? Still you probably misread something, i see from a couple of previous posts, you seem very concerned about the rules and being moved on, oh yeah and the " no dogs " Thing, still thanks for the heads up and maybe see you around a camp fire, one day.

Regards.

Uh oh, the camping police are here! Seeing as we'll be camping on private property and just going for a walk to haytor quarry (which is open to the public) I think we'll be fine.

There are other dangers. I once persuaded a young lady to go camping with me on the upside of Grimspound, she was a very nervous camper and the sound of 'things' moving around outside started to freak her out. To show her it was nothing to worry about, I opened the tent flap and shone a light out, just as a Dartmoor pony went by. Having seen a 'hoof' she promptly decided that the Devil himself was upon us, shrieked like a broken steam-whistle, fell to her prayers and claimed that she had been Damned for all eternity for going camping with me, a tad harsh I thought, even the Rangers just ask you to clear off in the morning if they disapprove.

Room for a newbie to join in? Only down the road between Lanson & Bude.

Hi 9InchNinja, (interesting name) Absolutely my friend, the more the merrier, there is plenty of room.

This is turning into one of the old fashioned Ivan meets, brilliant!

Atb.

Right! Everyone, i have been up to the site this morning, to confirm booking and pay the deposit.

Everything looks in place, for a right good old meet!

A little closer to the time, for those newbies, i will PM proper directions, mobile phone no's etc.

If anyone has any special requests, booking of tentipis, large ground space, exact hanging distance between trees! Etc please let me know.

Group meals is always a question asked, we have several very competant woodland chef's, so what we normally do i, if you wish to partake is, we all chuck in a couple of quid, for the cost, but for those wishing to cater for themselves, not a problem.

It's been said before, nobody goes hungry!

Thanks Ivan.

If the missus & sproglet are coming then I'll be bringing the bell tent, so I'll be needing quite a big space if that's possible?

If not then space for a hammock would be ideal.

Cheers!

Myself and Fi (Xylaria ) will try to get down will let you know soon as. how about combining the walk with a forage.

Hi Woodstock, great news! Good idea, there is a lot of combined knowledge between us, and i also have private acess to some wonderful foraging spots, off the beaten track, yet within a mile of camp.

Best wishes.

Ivan...

Ps, your Pm, did not go astray, it was appreciated at the time, thankyou.

I have been instructed by the wife to enquire as to the availability of showers?
Did look on the website but couldn't find an answer!

Hi Ninj, if i may call you that, i noticed on my last visit, there was a very and i mean very primative shower setup, involving larch lap panels and some shower curtain affair, which i did not study.
I will stick my neck on the line here (as SWMBO is out with the dog) and say if it mean't the difference, between her coming or not, your good lady, could use our shower at home, as it is only a couple of miles away.

We have a good friend, whose wife only comes to local meets,if she can use the shower, oh yeah and my straighteners!

I think I could make this, for a couple of days, if it's not getting over-subscribed. I'd just sit around grunting and stabbing innocent bits of wood, but what the hey.

Cheers,
Leif
