Just in case anyone wants to go full-metal-jacket rugged-individualist, here's a reality check:

The green squares are available for you and 7 billion other people. Raise the bunnies in a hutch. Support your local civilization. The alternative is long pig.

I'm not sure about that chart. I vaguely remember reading somewhere that the most weight (animal weight) was occupied by insects. (I'd classify them as "wild animals") Most are also edible in a pinch.

You are correct. Unicellular organisms out-mass the Arthropoda. The chart is, however, Mammalia.
Insectivory is known, but rare, among humans. It occurs where there ain't nuttin' else to eat.

Well, sorta. Though not technically insects, critters like shrimp, crabs, lobster, crawfish, etc. are basically just delicious bugs with gills.

All insects are Arthropoda. Not all Arthropoda are insects. The delicious ones tend not to be terrestrial. Whilst we are in a quibbling duel, remember that bugs are insects with sucking mouthparts. My reference to insectivory is to terrestrial insects. The last paper I read on the subject (no, it wasn't on papyrus) involved some small region of Mesoamerica that for some reason had no prey animals. Weird.

Oh I wasn't intending to quibble. I just am always amazed at how we (humans) decide what's good to eat but what's gross. It's like the joke about the guy who went into the diner:
Guest: "What's the special today?"
Waitress: "Beef tongue."
Guest: "Oh Gross! I could never eat something that came out of a cow's mouth! Just bring me a couple of scrambled eggs."
