I know when it's going to be windy, as I see all the big supply ships hiding in the bays up round here to shelter from the worst of it.

A few years ago it got down to -20 for a week or so. The week after it was -10 and had loads of people commenting 'cor - it's cold isn't it?' I just thought what about last week?! it was way colder. But later I supposed they just stayed at home that week as it was too cold outside... joys of having dogs dragging you out for a walk at stupid o'clock in the morning :) - at least I get to mess up all the pristine snow before anyone else gets there, and make giant 5ft diameter snowballs for the local kids to marvel at :)

Have just spent a few hours with my cat a pult trying to hunt a couple of cats to warm my feet. Am presently sitting in my local police station. I knew I should have stuck to my knitting of foil of tin socks Instead of using cats. My neighbors are quite upset.:(:D

Last winter we had a 3 day snow event. It was mad. We have only one store and the shelves were bare by the first evening. You couldn't buy milk bread or fresh vegetables for 4 days. I saw one woman who lives on her own comming out with 3 loaves of bread....why? If we had all shopped normally food would have lasted longer .luckily I always have a good supply of tinned and frozen veg , powdered milk and other things so it didn't bother me much. Just went and stocked up on 2 chocolate bars and a giant bag of crisps! Very nessasary for survival.
We had the same here, shops cleaned out of white bread and milk for days. Brown bread on the other hand....

If i still ate bread that would have suited me as I don't like the sliced plastic bread. I used to make my own anyway. It's not hard and doesn't take long. I can do it quicker by hand than an electric breadmaker, and it's quite good fun. Get rid of frustration with the kneading process. Tastes much nicer fresh from the oven. Everyone should be able to bake a loaf and put bread on the table, preferably with a jar of homemade jam. Who needs a shop! I used to get in a few of those packets of bread mix and zhuzh them up with cheese and olives or seeds and nuts. Try baking Stilton and walnut bread with a breadmix base. Yummy! Costs a fortune in the shops... if you can find it.

Yay ! Bikini time!

Will have to get the flymo out and do my legs! They've been hidden so long they've forgotten what daylight looks like.!

Wore sunglasses for the first time this year today. There was this bright shiny thing in the sky. Wondered what it was for a while.... then I remembered. Sunshine!
