Quality Belt / Strap Maker Recommendations for commission

H All, Not been on here in ages. I'm looking for maker recommendations or thoughts from makers on getting some thick leather straps made up. They are to replace the arm straps on some old camp / safari chairs. There's no decoration, so what's important is quality of materials, finish, precise...

Planning Edale / Peaks Campsite Recommendations?

Hi Guys, as above really. Any suggestions for campsites in the Peak District? Ideally not too far from Edale. A few details ... family camping, with dog and car. Don’t mind it simple, but toilet a must, showers and a possibility of an open fire both a bonus. All family quite outdoorsy and...

    Wild Swimmers??

Have a look at this book.... http://www.wildswimming.co.uk/wild-swimming-new-book/ Although I tried a recommended place on the upper reaches of the Thames and I wouldn't have washed my socks in there let alone swim. Sure there's some good ones listed in your area though.

Pine tar soap does it help stop the bitting critters ?

I'm a fan of tar soap but for other benefits. As far as I can tell, very little sent left after rinsing which could deter the insects. I prefer naturally formulated repellent instead, but still wash with pine tar.

    Vattlefjall Sweden

Looks great! Was it very busy in that area, did you feel like you were out in the wilderness, any sharing of the shelters with other parties? How were the mosquitos? Would be interested to know what the canoe hire cost if you don't mind sharing. Glad you enjoyed it.

    Small scissors/snips

How about err.... A pair of scissors? Sorry to be so facetious, but the best (and cheapest) tool for the job sometimes doesn't have to be essentially "bushy" in nature. If scissor function is especially important to you then maybe a small but good quality pair, with the ends stuck it to a short...

    Off to Sweden

Been using this for the past 20 years plus of summer trips to Sweden. Works for me but I try to avoid the worst areas and situations and always cover up. Also all natural ingredients... https://www.mosi-guard.com/insect-repellent/mosi-guard-roll-on

Cooking a leg of lamb over campfire

Ive done the butterflied version many times. Works well on the grill as excessive fat has been trimmed away. Usually marinated over night in lemon, garlic Rosemary salt and pepper. Sort of a Mediterranean version. Had bone in version cooked for me on a ranch in Brazil once, when they just threw...

Volvo XC90 or other large 6+ seater

Have you checked the car tax amount and likely insurance costs? Will both be fairly high I expect. A friend has the Volvo, and it's very comfortable. Also very safe in a collision.
